I do everything content.

A bit of a hidden gem in Cape Town is hiking up Devil’s Peak from Woodstock side.

It might be because you have to cross the M3 De Waal Drive that this hike is less frequented than others.

But the adrenaline rush is worth it, as beyond the M3 await tranquil hikes and adventurous shortcuts.

The dogs love exploring the wilderness Table Mountain offers right on our doorstep.

Views are spectacular from the ocean and industrial harbour to the northern suburbs and Hottentot mountains.

But it’s also the landscape itself that is ever changing and always inviting to be seen with new eyes.

After recent veld fires the Cape flora kingdom has its own way of resetting: The circle of life begins with grasses reclaiming the burnt landscape.

At Devil’s Peak the golden fynbos grass stand in stark contrast to the charcoal protea bushes:

A humbling sight, seeing how nature restores itself without any help from or rather despite humanity.
